Igor’s Travel Report – 2017 Brazilian Grand Prix

Igor Rabelo from Cubatão, Brazil tells us about his first “in loco” F1 experience at the 2017 Brazilian Grand Prix.

After many years watching F1 on the television, I started working a few years ago to save money to watch the race live at the circuit. I bought my tickets through the official GP website. My home city is near Sao Paulo, so i didn’t need a flight to arrive there. I stayed in the Ibis Interlagos Hotel (economic class). To go to the track, I used the shuttle bus service.

I sat in grandstand B (covered – in front of the podium). The structure is quite good, there were some screens to watch the TV broadcasting, and other monitors showing the timing. Well, in this sector the food and drink was included in the ticket price, so it was quite easy to eat and drink whenever we wanted. I remember just one restriction; the beer was only on offer after 11am. As it was my first F1 experience, and I was really tired after the track activities, I didn’t get a chance to experience the Sao Paulo nightlife.

My Expenses

  • 3000 BRL (Grandstand B Ticket)
  • 600 BRL (Hotel Ibis x 2 nights)
  • 120 BRL (Shuttle bus from hotel to track and back x 3 days)
  • 200 BRL (Other Expenses)
  • TOTAL = 3920 BRL ($1029 USD)

I definitely recommend the Brazilian GP at Interlagos!

There’s a fantastic atmosphere, with people from many countries. Especially Latin America; Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay. I’m planning to go back to the race this year. I’ll stay in the Morumbi region, and use the train service (“CPTM”) to get to the track.
