Do I Need a Visa for Malaysia?
Most visitors to Malaysia do not need a visa for a short-term tourist stay. Passport holders from the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and most EU countries can enter Malaysia without a visa for tourism or business and stay for up to 90 days. Passports must be valid for up to six months from the intended arrival date. All visitors need to complete a Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) within three days of arrival.

The Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia will take place in early October, the start of the heavy monsoon season in sub-tropical Malaysia. On average, rain falls on 20-22 days during the month of October. Thunderstorms are very common in the late afternoon and early evening. Humidity is also very high, averaging from 80-85% during this time of year. Daytime temperatures are very high, averaging around 32°C (90°F). We recommend wearing light and loose fitting clothing to the track (jeans are not a good idea!) and take along a rain jacket, as well as a hat and sunscreen.

Malaysia has a diverse multicultural population made up of Malays and indigenous peoples with large minorities from China, India, and other Asian nations. Religion is similarly varied, with around 60% of the population practicing Islam, around 20% Buddhism and small but significant Christian and Hindu minorities. The official language is Malaysian (Bahasa Malaysia) though the second language of English is widely spoken.
Safety
Kuala Lumpur is a very safe destination for foreign tourists, but vigilance is always advisable in large cities. Look after your belongings on public transport as pickpockets are active, especially on crowded routes. Also be careful not to walk too close to the kerb, as motorcycle bag snatchers are active in the city. Always be extra careful late at night in Kuala Lumpur – take a taxi instead of walking home alone.
