From offering the calendar’s cheapest tickets two years ago (and second cheapest last year), the Hungarian Grand Prix now has the seventh most expensive race tickets this year, according to our 2025 Formula 1 ticket price ranking.
The good news is that Budapest is still one of Formula 1’s most vibrant and affordable cities. The best accommodation in the Hungarian capital is subject to the dreaded ‘F1 surcharge’ but there’s still a good supply of apartments and other affordable places to stay. Eating and drinking on race weekend remains affordable. Taking into account the cost of race tickets, accommodation and spending money, Hungary is the second cheapest race weekend to attend in 2025.

Budget
- Weekend cost approx. €430 ($500 USD)
- 3-day General Admission ticket = €160
- Dorm bed at hostel in central Budapest for 3 nights = €120
- Spending money (€50 x 3) = €150
Mid-Range
- Weekend cost approx. €860 ($1,000 USD)
- 3-day Grand Prix 2 Grandstand ticket = €335
- 3-star hotel in central Budapest x 3 nights = €225 (per person, double/twin share)
- Spending money (€100 x 3) = €300
High End
- Weekend cost approx. €5,315 ($6,160 USD)
- 3-Day Champions Club by F1 Experiences hospitality = €3,965
- 5 star hotel in central Budapest x 3 nights = €750 (per person, twin/double share)
- Spending money (€200 x 3) = €600

Had to laugh at the Cheap Charlie, Average Joe and Extravagent Eddie. My mate and I are a combination of all off these and as seasoned Grand Prix go’ers I’d say we’re quite typical i combining this together.
We typically go extravagent on the tickets (Gold 4 at Hungary, 8A at Monza etc, typically in Turn 1). We are typically average Joe’s when it comes to accomodation, we’ve camped on circuit, 3* hotels and this year in Budapest we’ve rented an apartment. And when it comes to food and drink at the circuit, we’re cheap Charlie tending to do a supermarket run to stock up beers and waters and make up sandwiches. Of course this is cheaper, but for us as well it’s about knowing more of what you’re eating. Each night though we like to eat a nice meal in an Average Joe restaurant.
Made me laugh though :-)
Looking forward to my 10th GP this year in Budapest
Jason
Can you take your own alcohol in?
Yes, but only up to 500ml in a plastic bottle. More information here: https://gpdestinations.com/trackside-hungarian-f1-grand-prix/
Hi, so from uk, should I go over there with euros or HUF?
Thanks
HUF. Euro is accepted some places, but at worse exchange rates. You are better getting HUF and using them!
Thanks Andrew, and where would be best to get them? Here in uk or cash point in Hungary?
I normally get a little bit before I leave, then withdraw more from cash points in Hungary.
When would tickets be likely to go on sale/ how do you find out when they do apart from checking the ticketing website everyday?
Tickets will be on sale with our partners Grand Prix Events this week, in the next 1-2 days. There will be a discount of about 15% when buying before December 31, 2021. I’ll notify you when available.
Is it possible to choose which seats to sit in in the grandstands?
I don’t believe any ticket companies offer the ability to choose specific seats. If you purchase with our ticket supplier GPT, you can make a request for a specific zone/seat within the grandstand and they will try to fulfill your request.
