500,000 Attend 2025 British Grand Prix Weekend

The 2025 British Grand Prix weekend attracted a 4-day weekend attendance of 500,000 – the largest in Silverstone’s history on the Formula 1 calendar.

A record 4-day crowd of 500,000 spectators attended the 2025 British Grand Prix weekend at Silverstone, making it the second best-attended Formula 1 race weekend in the sport’s history. In the last two years, the British Grand Prix had a weekend turnout of 480,000 – second on the all-time list only to the 1995 Australian Grand Prix, which remains the best-attended Formula 1 race weekend on record with a 4-day attendance of 520,000.

Lando Norris celebrated the 25th win for a British driver at Silverstone at the 2025 British Grand Prix, leading home Oscar Piastri in McLaren’s fifth 1-2 finish of the season. Nico Hulkenberg claimed an unexpected but much celebrated maiden podium with Sauber on his 239th F1 appearance – setting a new record for the most Grand Prix starts before taking a first top three finish.

The British Grand Prix ranks as the best-attended race of the 2025 season so far and is likely to remain at the top of the list. The Silverstone race has been the best-attended Formula 1 weekend in each of the last two seasons. Its nearest rival so far this year is the Australian Grand Prix, which had a weekend attendance of just over 465,000. This year’s United States and Mexico City Grands Prix are also likely to attract weekend figures in excess of 400,000.

Silverstone hosted the very first round of the Formula 1 World Championship in May 1950. The 2025 British Grand Prix marked the 60th round of the championship to take place at the track in total. This year’s event was also the 80th to take place in Britain, the nation becoming the third to have hosted as many as 80 races after Italy and the United States.

Silverstone has a contract to continue hosting the British Grand Prix until at least 2034, following the signing of a 10-year contract extension in February 2024. The 2026 British Grand Prix is set to take place on July 3-5. Tickets will go on sale in September, though some hospitality packages are already available via the official Silverstone website.
